Georgia O’Keeffe, A Life Well Lived: Photographs by Malcolm Varon

Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, 2022

For decades, Malcolm Varon was only the only photographer Georgia O’Keeffe would trust to photograph her art. But when he wasn’t shooting her paintings, he also photographed the life of her home (including some rare portraits of O’Keeffe smiling).

My partners in this project at the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, Malcolm Varon and Barbara Buhler Lynes, became two great friends. I worked subsequently with Malcolm to acquire his O’Keeffe material (prints and contact sheets) for the museum’s collection.
