Contemporary Voices: Josephine Halvorson

 Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, 2022

From the time I arrived at the O’Keeffe Museum I began advancing the idea of hosting artists-in-residence. As with all things in museums, however, this took time. Finally, we were able to welcome Josephine Halvorson as our first artist-in-residence, not in Santa Fe, but at Ghost Ranch. Her subsequent show at the museum, part of the Contemporary Voices Series, showcased the paintings Halvorson made in Northern New Mexico in dialogue with work by O’Keeffe. The Paris Review published a great photo-journal featuring Halvorson’s Polaroid’s of the paintings captured “in situ.”
